Each day I choose “BIGs” = Building-blocks of Important Goals. I choose up to 3 per day: morning, afternoon, and evening. Usually my evening BIG is with my family. If I accomplish my BIGs — even if they are quick to complete — then it was a successful day! If I fail to complete my BIGs, I assess why. Perhaps I didn’t break down the work enough, and so I had more than I could do in one or even two days? Perhaps I lacked the resources at this point?
Avoid choosing 10 BIGs, or even 5, in a day! That is a recipe for disaster! If you choose one BIG, that improves your probability of doing it. If you complete your BIG and have the time and energy to do another, wonderful. But you’ve already had a successful day.
